ABOUT J.C. SOON

The New Jersey-based solo project of songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and engineer Jon Chang-Soon, J.C. SOON blends indie, pop, and rock into a sound that’s both nostalgic and current. The music draws from the synth-driven textures and sharp rhythms of 1980s pop/rock while staying rooted in the emotional immediacy of modern indie pop.

What sets J.C. SOON apart is the hands-on, all-in approach. In his newest EP Overflow, every song is written, performed, recorded, engineered, and produced entirely solo, making each track a fully personal statement—built from the ground up with obsessive precision and raw authenticity.

Before launching this solo project, J.C. SOON made his mark in the alt-rock circuit as a member of Bobby Mahoney (2018–2025), sharing stages with legends like Jon Bon Jovi, Vini Lopez (Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band), Ricky Byrd (Joan Jett and the Blackhearts), and punk staples like Against Me! and Murder By Death. His work has earned recognition in national outlets including Alternative Press and The Hard Times.
